Couples Therapy

Too many of us feel disconnected, discouraged, and stressed in our closest relationships. We want things to work, to get back to where things were, or to simply keep growing together in spite of everything that puts pressure on our relationship. When things are strained, or hit the limits of what we know about love, conflict, or healthy partnership, the most basic and painful questions can come up: “Do I matter to you?” “Are you and will you be there for me?”

Conflict dynamics and the disconnection they create can leave partners feeling isolated in the very place we long to feel safe, seen, and loved. Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) is a highly evidence-based model in which emotions are recognized as the solution to our relationship issues, not the problem.

In couples therapy, you will receive facilitation, empathy, and guidance to find your way back to each other, resolve issues with renewed trust, understanding, and creativity, and develop your love and connection. EFCT is an attachment-based model that sees the emotional aspects of human experience (reactivity, anxiety, avoidance, longing, hyper-independence, etc.) as coherent responses to unmet needs. In other words: our responses to each other make sense given what we've gone through! Family, culture, and trauma have tremendous influence to weave together the interactional dynamics of our relationships. You and your partner want to break free from harmful dynamics and develop new, positive ones. Couples therapy is a great place to do this.

A free consultation call (15-20 minutes) is required to determine good fit.
